Best Hair Care Products for Frizzy Hair That Work

Dealing with my frizzy hair has been an ongoing saga for my whole life. Part of me wants to just embrace my frizzy hair, but my frizz is pretty bad. My curly frizz is super fluffy, and I look like I’m wearing a giant mushroom on my head if I don’t find the best (and, if I’m lucky enough to find, natural hair care products) to smooth my frizzy hair.

I’ve also looked in the mirror and thought my hair looks like the end of a janitor’s mop, a witches broom, carpet fibers, and an overgrown weed. I’ve talked to so many people about frizz, both friends and readers, who struggle with smoothing the frizz.

Those with thick hair (and money to spend) rave about the Brazilian blowout and Keratin treatments.

You have to go to the salon every few months to keep redoing the treatment.  It’s like Botox, looks great but requires hundreds of dollars and multiple visits for upkeep.

Plus if you have thinnish hair or fine textured hair, treatment may end up giving you smooth but lifeless hair.

I prefer to find products that I can use at home and don’t require strong chemicals.

Here’s what I have used that works a little. I’ve yet to find that holy grail product. I will let you know immediately if I do!

Best Heavy Conditioner For Frizzy Hair

  • Ancient Egyptian Anti-Breakage & Repair Antidote Hair Mask

  • Shea Moisture Deep Treatment Masque

  • Shea Moisture Organic Yucca & Plantain Anti-Breakage Masque

All of the above are great options for a deep condition for frizzy hair.  All of these products work well but not a huge difference in the frizz.

My hair is softer after using these though.

Klorane and Rene Furterer offer excellent products that infuse hair with moisture, I like the Klorane Mask With Desert Date for  Damaged Hair and Rene Furterer Karite Intense Nourishing Mask.

Best Spray Conditioner For Frizzy Hair

I have tried Yarok Feed Your Ends, John Masters Leave-In Spray, Acure Organics Leave-In Conditioner…   It’s so hard when you have fine hair, you don’t want to weigh it down!

I really liked these products but nothing eliminated the frizz completely.

Best Serums, Gels, and Creams For Frizzy Hair

I really like RUSK Designer Collection Str8 Anti-Frizz and Anti-Curl Lotion which eliminates my weird cowlicks and kinks.

I also like Bed Head Control Freak Serum and I use both of these in specific places where I need extra help.

I’ve been experimenting with the Control Freak Serum trying to determine the best place to apply (all over? just the ends? in my extra frizzy spots?) and will keep working with it.

I’ve also tried smoothing products by Garnier Fructis and Lanza,  Giovanni Cosmetics Hair Frizz Be Gone Serum, and most recently, Shea Moisture Peace Rose Oil Complex.

All of which are great products but better suited to thick hair.

Rene Furterer Karite Leave-In Repairing Serum works well but you only need a tiny bit for fine hair!

Best Oils For Frizzy Hair

Camilla, Argan, Coconut oils.

Oils are all great for THICK hair.  When you have fine, thin hair, a tiny bit of oil goes a long way!

I like to use Darshana Natural Indian Hair Oil with Ayurvedic Botanicals as an overnight treatment and saturate my hair with this, allowing it to penetrate the frizz while I sleep.

Best Shampoo & Conditioners For Frizzy Hair

I’ve tried these awesome products by Virtue which do work by infusing hair with serious moisture.

The shampoo and conditioner work well together to soften hair and the smoothing cream eliminates excess frizz thanks to a *keratin ingredient that de-frizzes hair as if by magic.

Here’s what you need to know:
*Alpha Keratin 60ku™ is a whole, human keratin. Born from regenerative medicine, it is identical to the keratin in your hair, skin, and nails so it heals and repairs, unlike anything you’ve experienced before.

I love how my hair feels after using the products together, I typically have a good hair day after using these.

If you want to go for a clean, natural hair care products for your frizz, I highly recommend Josh Rosebrook’s line of hair care which not only gently cleanse hair but nourishes it with botanicals and extracts. Josh Rosebrook Hair Care products help to heal hair, not just coat it with harsh ingredients.

Something else that helps me with my frizzy hair is using a blow dryer (I’ve been using one from Hot Tools) with a nozzle attachment called a concentrator.

You have to really take the time to carefully blow dry your hair with the tool pointed downward.

I have tried out hot rollers, curling wands, curling irons, velcro rollers, a brush/blow dryer combo but the bottom line is if your hair is frizzy to start with, not a whole lot is going to change the texture.

I’m going to continue to search for smoothing products for thin, frizzy hair!
