One of my favorite affordable, non-toxic skin care brands that is easily accessible is Shea Moisture. I remember reviewing this brand when they were pretty new and wow, they have grown so much! I have really enjoyed using their various products over the years and I absolutely can not get enough of their body lotions and oils.
Shea Moisture Skincare
Shea Moisture Peace Rose Oil Complex not only smells incredible but the body wash, lotion, and oil are all gentle and hydrating, leaving skin velvety smooth. I’m a huge fan of Rose scents done right- not too sweet or floral but a gentle fragrance that lingers just a little.
It is well known that the scent of roses helps inspire positive thoughts and relaxation as well as calms anxiety. Nothing like a little aromatherapy with your beauty products!
The Shea Moisture hair styling products are equally as wonderful as the body products.
The Shea Moisture Gel-Cream smells like roses, soothes frizzy hair, and gently tames curls. Its key ingredients include Camellia Leaf Extract, Date Palm Extract, and Peace Rose Oil Complex.
The Shea Moisture Sensitive Skin Facial Cleansing Oil works well to remove makeup, sweat, and dirt.
I really like using cleansing oils to keep skin healthy and not stripped of natural oils. You can remove eye makeup with this too which is great for those like me who typically like to use one product to remove makeup and clean the face.
One of the Shea Moisture products I am using and loving is the Shea Moisture Sacha Inchi Oil Omega-3-6-9 Rescue & Repair Co-Wash Cleanser & Condition, my dry frizzy hair responds very well to this one!
The website is nicely designed and easy to navigate, I had fun looking at the cosmetics which I didn’t even know existed! Vegan lip balm? Sign me up!
Lots of great items to view and as a person who loves non-toxic beauty, I appreciate that they are cruelty-free, use fair trade ingredients, don’t contain parabens, mineral oil, DEA, petroleum, or propylene.
Nubian Heritage Skincare
Nubian Heritage is another brand always on my radar. I’m obsessed, OBSESSED with their line of Patchouli and Buriti body care. The scent is amazing, not too perfumey or spicy or sweet.
Much like Shea Moisture, Nubian Heritage products contain mainly non-toxic, clean ingredients.

Their Raw Shea Butter Body Lotion is super soothing and hydrating without being greasy or oily. I use this after my shower, especially excellent after I shave my legs.
Especially good for sensitive skin, non-irritating and contains Soy Milk, Frankincense, and Myrrh.
Shea Butter is known to heal skin and help with dryness, itchy skin, rough patches, rashes and is rich in vitamin E and vitamin A. It’s a powerhouse for skin in need of some TLC.
The Indian Hemp and Haitian Vetiver line has a lovely scent and is fantastic for dry skin too.
The scrub is so good for rough hands and feet. You can give yourself a great mani/pedi using this product which contains a blend of oils and butters, so it exfoliates and gives you some softening too.
It feels so good to scrub hands with this!
The Indian Hemp and Haitian Vetiver Shea Butter is what you need after the scrub!
My typical protocol is to take off all of my nail polish/toenail polish, give hands and feet a good exfoliation with the scrub, then apply this and wear socks so my feet can soak up the moisturizing properties of the shea butter.
You will swear you just had a professional service because your hands and feet will be softer than cashmere!
