I wish I hadn’t spent time roasting on the beaches of the Jersey Shore when I was a teenager so I am now spending time trying hard to reserve the damage. If there’s any advice I can give you, it’s TAKE CARE OF YOUR SKIN! Even when I was young, I always washed my face before going to bed.

I didn’t always have the clean skin care routine I have now, but as I got older, finding clean and natural skin care products to meet the needs of my aging skin became more important.

Skin care in my 40s is different than skin care in my 30s… I like to say, skin care in my 40s is more mature. 🙂

These are what I have been putting to the test lately and I’m impressed!

ClarityRx Antioxidant Red Tea Serum

ClarityRx Antioxidant Red Tea Serum exceeded my expectations.  It has a light consistency and sinks into skin with no residue.  You can apply makeup right over it and it’s not greasy, oily, heavy. Ideal for the heat of the summer!

Here’s what the company says about this product:

This serum gives your skin a healthy dose of free radical fighting antioxidants for optimal environmental protection. Pure South African red tea has an exceptional effect on the skin, reducing inflammation, irritation, combating the signs of aging and soothing sun damage and acne. This all-inclusive skin care treatment is your key to healthy, glowing skin.

The South African Red Tea contains antioxidants which we all know are good inside and outside the body, this light serum also reduces irritation, inflammation, infuses skin with nutrients, and helps with acne.

This is something everyone, at any age, can use.

A few drops are all that’s needed for the face.

I love using this in the morning under my makeup.

I highly recommend you check it out- go here for more!

Chelsey Wang Luminous Facial Clay

The magnificent Luminous Facial Clay I love is from Chelsea Wang.

Safe and all-natural, this revitalizing facial clay refreshes dull skin and brightens my complexion.

I have also been loving the Chelsey Wang Healing Aloe Serum. This all-natural, organic, and vegan serum is ultra soothing and appropriate for all skin types to enjoy.

Not only are these products clean and wonderful, so is the Chelsea Wang website… I was instantly intrigued when I looked at it.

Check it out here.

Chelsea Wang Recommended Skincare Routine:

Step 1: Wash with your skin-type specific Cleanser
(morning & evening)

Step Two: Spritz your clean skin with skin-type specific Toner to close pores and minimize blemishes
(morning & evening)

Step Three: Apply Revitalizing Facial Serum to reduce fine lines and wrinkles while adding moisture

Step Four: Apply skin-type specific Facial Oil for perfect hydration
(morning & evening)

Finding a good cleanser is difficult because so many of them sting my eyes or aren’t geared for removing all makeup.

I want one cleanser to take away all cosmetics from mascara to eyeliner to foundation, with no residue.

The Restoring Facial Cleanser smells so good thanks to jasmine, its gentle and leaves the skin looking bright and fresh.

Made with ingredients like Organic Rosa Damascena, Organic Sunflower Oil, plus Organic Laminaria Digitata (Sea Kelp), and more, it’s extremely soothing.

It won’t strip natural oils so your face is left looking and feeling soft and clean.

The Revitalizing Facial Serum is another winning product, it contains high-potency hyaluronic acid.

I am always reading how people should include skincare with hyaluronic acid because it helps plump up tired, wrinkled skin.

And if you are over forty, you know your skin needs some plumping!

This serum has a wonderful consistency, my skin loves it. I pat on a few drops of this and skin just drinks it up! I then apply face oil or moisturizer on top of this to seal in the moisture.  I love the two products I have tried from Chelsea Wang and know you will love them as well.

There are many products from this brand geared towards various skin types and concerns. There is a body care collection that looks especially lovely!

I have long been a fan of Avene Skincare products.

I think it’s been at least ten years since I have been using products from this line. I am really into Avene Retrinal 0.1 Intensive Cream, ever since the dermatologist told me its the only way (besides lasers) to get rid of the little dark spots that have been showing up on my face, neck, and chest.

I use this one a few times a week.

Avene Retrinal 0.1 Intensive Cream:

  • Powerful antioxidant protects the skin from free radicals
  • Skin appears fuller, firmer, and toned
  • Improves skin tone
  • Clinically shown to visibly reduce signs of aging

This Retinal Intensive Cream doesn’t dry out my skin like other Retin A products tend to do.

I use a small amount for each side of my face plus my neck and chest, anything left over gets applied to the tops of my hands.

The trick with this is to be consistent. You want to use this on a regular basis which is how it keeps working and reducing deep wrinkles and dark spots.

I find that it helps keep dark spots light, pores are smaller, the skin is brighter.  Avene is a brand that is made for skin that is more sensitive so if you require gentle products, Avene is the skincare line you need to explore.

From the company:

All of our products are manufactured and tested under strict quality control guidelines set by the Pierre Fabre Group. All of our formulas are compliant with current European legislation and have been clinically tested by dermatologists to ensure they provide excellent results of efficacy and tolerance, even for people with hypersensitive or atopic (eczema prone) skin.

Another skincare line I have had great success with is Glytone

This is another respected brand that offers a wide range of products for various skin concerns. I’ve used many Glytone products over the years.

Glytone Enhance Brightening Serum with Hyaluronic has made significant improvements on sun-damaged skin on my chest. This serum absorbs quickly and I love using it all over my face, neck, chest.

Not only does it help to even out skin tone but it lightens pigmentation, reduces dark /sun spots, evens skin tone, hydrates, and protects against free radicals.

This is a premium product and one that I recommend you try.

Using these products consistently is key to great results. I try to always have these skincare products in rotation in my clean, all-natural beauty arsenal.

Glytone Enhance Brightening Serum with Hyaluronic:

  • Advanced pigment reducing
  • Reduce unwanted dark spots
  • Minimizes the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles
  • Visibly improve the appearance of photo-damaged skin
  • Helps to protect against external free radicals and oxidative stress

I can tell you from my experience that it does what it says it’s going to do!

I used the Glytone Peel Gel (until I ran out) and loved how my skin looked after using it.

The next skin care product from Glytone I’m looking forward to trying out is Glytone Age-Defying Vitamin C + E Serum.

Glytone is a well-respected brand that I really see results from using in my 40s. This skin care line offers many great products to help with a variety of skin types and ages.
