I write a lot about oxalates, these little anti-nutrients found in many healthy foods like common and fruits and vegetables. I found some really interesting information and wanted to pass it along.
I think oxalates are going to soon be the next gluten– something to avoid, or at least watch your intake.
They have the ability to cause health issues and like me, you might not even realize what you are consuming (I’m thinking of my daily spinach and kale intake along with the handfuls of sunflower seeds I used to eat) because these components are found in foods we are told to eat and have many nutritional benefits.

General – Burning, tingling or numb hands or feet, cold hands and/or feet, sensitive teeth and gums,
burning lips, popping jaws, calcium deposits on cornea, vomiting.
Genital – Inflammation, red or purple sores or bumps, white patches or red spots, stabbing or stinging pains, pain that is not visible, cut-like splits in skin, clitoral pain (or penile pain in men), pain around the vaginal opening, painful intercourse, pain when touching the vagina or upon pulling the vaginal hair, and internal pelvic pain or soreness, rectal burning, pain, itching, spasm, redness, irritation, bleeding from fine tears, burning discharge, bladder infections, concentrated or pungent urine, and chronic interstitial cystitis.
Urinary – Urine that squeezes out in drops rather than a flow, urethra pain that increases while sitting on
Skin – Sensitive skin in general, pain when you tug on your hair, commercial products make you itch,
burn or turn red, sunburn easily.
Like oxalates, salicylates are found in fruits, vegetables, and nuts, as well as seeds. See why I feel like I can’t eat anything!? And we haven’t even discussed histamines!
It’s so crazy to me that the very healthy foods that have been recommended to consume can be doing more harm than good.
In my extensive and ongoing research, I have found a link between these sensitivities and leaky gut. Probably a very high percentage of people are walking around with candida, leaky gut, sibo, and more.
A diet that is high in sugar and processed foods doesn’t help and as I’m learning, chronic stress might be just as bad as consuming junk food!

When something in the body is off, its like a domino effect. If you are suffering from weird and seemingly unrelatable issues and sickness, you might want to take a look at the oxalate and salicylate content of what you are eating.
